A HIDDEN GEM !
Just outside Masvingo on the Mutare Road is Kyle Recreation Park, a national park which covers around 17.500 hectares on the shores of Lake Mutikiri. Apart from gane watching, aslo available are lodges, camping facilities and picnic areas. There is an active White Rhino conservation programme supported by the local community, on the last visit there were 21 rhinos with a baby just having been born. You can drive yourself around the signposted tracks and apar from Rhinos you are likely to see Buffalo, Giraffe, Hippos, Ostrich, Secretary Birds, Kudu, Zebra, Impala etc etc. If you are really lucky there is a large leopard which has occasionally been spotted ! There are also a wide variety of bird life. The fees are very reasonable for local people $3 per person plus $3 per vehicle.

Modest Accommodation but Great Views and Rhinos
This park is about 20km from Masvingo, and 15 km off the main Masvingo to Mutare Road. It has about 10 chalets, ranging from 1 bedroom up to a 4 bedroom house. We chose a two bedroom chalet, "Elephant". It is at the western end. The accommodation is basic self-catering, clean, dated furniture, but adequate. The great things about this place are that it is very quiet, there are great views over the lake and surrounds, and they have a very successful rhino breeding program. On the downside---no internet access, unless you have your own receiver, no supplies to be purchased, erratic electricity...as in all of Zimbabwe. Bring plenty of food and drink, and portable lights, as well as cool boxes with plenty of ice and you will enjoy it.

Seeing 3 of the big 5
A pretty decent wildlife park. But you are to compare it some of the other parks in Zimbabwe - Hwange national park. I would say this hardly compares. If I'm being honest I personally don't think its worth the visit. Rather head to one of the bigger national parks.
