Fun Visit with Rescued Farm Animals

Winslow Farm Animal Awareness is a non-profit charitable organization devoted to the rescue and care of abandoned and mistreated animals. Established in 1996, Winslow Farm exists for one purpose: to provide love and care to the many animals without a home or for those that have been abused and/or neglected by their previous owners. A sanctuary where animals can learn to trust humans once again. In the fall of 1997, Winslow Farm opened it's doors to the public as an animal farm, offering the public an opportunity to meet and interact with the 183 animals that live on the farm. In addition to an animal sanctuary, Winslow Farm offers a variety of animal-oriented activities, including birthday parties for children, pony rides, group educational tours, nature hikes and trails, as well as special events occurring during the holiday seasons. These activities serve to educate the public about neglected, abused, and abandoned animals, general animal care, and allows animals the exposure to a population of "good" humans that these animals can learn to trust. Our Mission is to provide a high quality "stay-for-life" animal sanctuary, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and care of mistreated and abandoned animals, to promote the prevention of animal mistreatment through quality educational programs and events, and to advocate the preservation of wildlife habitat.

Winslow Farm - we wanted to stay forever!
We stayed over 3 hrs. It was beautiful and peaceful. You can walk in every animal living area (except the horses). My kids loved it. They didn't want to leave. It was clean .. well kept .. and the animals were well taken care of. The animals are a little shy .. but if you are quiet and walk over to them slowly - they will let you pet them. There is a playground for the kids. I heard they are building a food area too. A must visit! Your entrance fee is a donation for the care of the animals. During my visit - I planned to send them a yearly donation. My kids are begging me to go back (and we will soon). There are horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, peacocks, cats, dogs, llamas, alpaca, goats, sheep and much more! Go see for yourself!

    A Worthwhile Afternoon
I spent an afternoon at Winslow Farm with my 4 year old. Upon arriving I was a little confused - there was no sign saying 'Winslow Farm' facing the road that I saw just one mentioning their Halloween programs, I initially had a hard time determining where we could and could not go, and we didn't see staff for the first 10 minutes - but by the end (I think) I had most everything figured out. My daughter loved the playset, petting cats, donkeys, sheep, and goats, watching the pigs and chickens. Despite the initial confusion, it was kind of neat to explore and roam and not be directed any which way. We stayed for about 2.5 hours. There is a port-a-potty for a public to use. Wear shoes appropriate for a farm since there is a lot of animal excrement on the ground.
