Unique Independent Department Store Near Great Restaurants and Amtrak Station

Wilson’s Department Store is one of America’s oldest (1882) and last independent , family-owned, full line, department stores. Located at the corner of Main and Davis Streets, this store has survived the national trend for malls and big box stores outside of the Downtown by being customer oriented and technologically savvy. The store is located only steps from several great restaurants and a 1 min walk from Amtrak’s Greenfield Station, which on October 30, 2019, saw the addition of the four train, “Valley Flyer” service, bringing to a total of six trains per day to Greenfield, service not seen here in 52 years, half a century! On Saturdays, folks can even take a day trip from Springfield, Northampton, and Holyoke to see this icon department store and other Greenfield attractions.

    Tourist Stop
We were visiting the area and were told we should stop here. It ia an old-time department store. Very cool as the customer service was like how it used to be. They have everything, too. This was a nice experience.

    A Store That Time Forgot
Wilson's is a treasure. An old fashioned department store, locally owned, where they still understand customer service. The brand selection is excellent. We particularly enjoy the housewares department. For those with kids you'll find toys that aren't on the shelves at Target. If you're visiting the area, a detour to visit Wilson's is more than worth your while.
