    An enjoyable and educational visit
Our original plan was to join a guided tour of the interior of the home. While on the premises, we learned about NightWood and decided to return that same evening to experience the light and sound show. Our guide was knowledgeable, and the pace of the tour was just right. We had ample time to ask questions, and we went back through the house after the tour to explore on our own. The NightWood experience was magical. We expected a tour, but we weren't disappointed when we learned that the walk was to be accomplished on our own. We made two rounds and enjoyed some cider and a cookie from the cafe outside. Yes, the cookies are overpriced, but bearing in mind that all proceeds benefit a worthy cause, all is forgiven.

    NightWood at the Mount
I visited NightWood at the Mount last night. I had a very pleasant walk around the grounds while imagining the trees and their roots talking to us. They put a lot of work into creating a story with lights, lighting and music. The pathways are well lit (for the dark) with torches, another lovely touch. All staff were very nice. This morning I returned to walk the grounds by daylight. The landscaping by Edith Wharton was well done and I hope to come back sometime when the gardens are in bloom.
