    Another dead mall
My husband and I recently visited Square One Mall in Saugus for the first time in about 13 or 14 years. We live in Maine, but my husband is originally from Boston and we used to visit this mall very frequently in the 2000s whenever we would visit my husband's mother, who lived on the North Shore. Sadly, his mother passed away 13 years ago in 2008, so we hadn't been to this mall since 2007 or 2008. We were in the area recently and decided to stop by for old time's sake. We were amazed by how downhill this mall has gone since our last visit well over a decade ago. Almost all of the stores that were once in this mall are now gone. The ramp to get to the upper level parking lot is now closed off and the mall is in very rough shape. There was hardly anybody there on a Saturday afternoon and it looked extremely dismal, nothing like we remember it. Many years ago, you'd be lucky just to find an available parking spot at this mall on the weekends. One of the first things we noticed upon entering the mall is that a majority of the stores are local "mom and pop" stores that we had never even heard of and most of the big chain retail stores that once occupied this mall are no longer there. It was a very depressing sight to see. Even the food court was looking pretty depressing. However, I guess we can't be too surprised since shopping malls are dying all over the country, thanks to the gradual takeover of online shopping over the years. The local mall where we live is also on its last legs and I suspect won't be around within the next 1-2 years. Judging by the current state of the Square One Mall, I have a feeling that it will eventually meet he same fate. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, but we will not be back. There is really nothing left to see in this mall.

    Lack Luster
Not that malls are must go to places but if you do have to go and shop you want a mall that is inviting this is not what I find at the Square One mall. Though it has parking once inside it's not friendly or welcoming at all. Not a lot of stores that I find that I can use and when you go into most of them the customer service is very poor. The staff just does not seem to want to wait on you now this is not for all the staff but most of them and this is why I go else where.
