A Gem of an Attraction in Northampton
We were very impressed with this gem of a museum. They have a good collection of Impressionist work, my personal favorite, but I found almost all of the exhibits to be very pleasing and/or interesting. The entry fee of $5 for adults is a great bargain. An added bonus is the ability to take photographs of items in their collection, which is often not allowed in museums. As a previous reviewer mentioned, make sure you check out both the women’s and men’s restrooms on the lower level – the friendly staff encouraged us to go into each one. These artist-designed restrooms alone are well worth the price of admission. The hand-crafted gallery benches found throughout the museum are amazing, as well. There is a small but excellent gift shop which is also definitely worth visiting. The Smith College Museum of Art should be on the “must-do” list for any visit to this area.

    Historic art museum
There is a temporary exhibit through May 2023 by artist Agano Machiko that peaked my interest in visiting the museum. Agano is known for her fiber art installations. Fishing line, stainless steel wire and paper are center stage throught one of the room's gallery space. These knit forms hang majestically. I'm glad I went.
