    Best free attraction!
Well, after probably driving the car on the walking path, we exited the first entrance and took the second and lucked out! We didn't want to pay for the guided tour and the only way we found the author's ridge was when we spotted the stone with Alcott, Emerson, Hawthorne and Thoreau that told us we were to walk up the ridge to where the graves were located. I was amazed that the families of those were all buried with them and no huge stone for the famous. Didn't stop the goosebumps seeing their headstones and looking at all the pens that had been thrown over the ring that protected the graves. It was one of the highlights of our trip and it was free!

    Literary luminaries buried here
If you like historic cemeteries you will thoroughly enjoy Sleepy Hollow. If you enjoy American literature you will find Author's Ridge quite fascinating. Here are the family plots of the Alcotts, Emersons, Hawthornes, and Thoreaus. Rather steep climb but with a solid handrail to assist.
