Beautiful Beach with Seals
Rode bikes to the beach after seeing the lighthouse. Sat down on the sand and enjoyed a fairly empty beach on a Sunday evening. Saw numerous seals stick their heads out of the water to scan the beach. Very enjoyable.

Gorgeous gorgeous!
As a couple,early May,we drove bikes from downtown Nantucket, about 10 miles along the very picturesque Polpis Rd bike path to reach the beach. No real signs along the way but you know you're close when you see the Sakaty Lighthouse as you bike or drive past the golf-course. The 'town' consists of a Post- Office(open) and a Country Market store which was closed as this was off- season. As you get to the roundabout, you go left by the Post Office and downhill and voila, there is the beach. It truly was jaw dropping, the most beautiful blue color and the clean tan sand, shells, a bit of seaweed, no litter anywhere.We dropped off and locked our bikes and searched for the elusive start of the almost 1 and 1/2 mile cliff walk footpath. As we searched for a bit, we saw a tiny path at the edge of a lawn on the hill with a small sign stating it was the end of the path, but since we were going south to north, for us it was the start. The walk is easy and the sea is always in full view as you walk along the edge of peoples' lawns admiring their beautiful/ unique houses. Sometimes you walk through groups of trees, shrubs, flowers and see private wooden walkways leading down to the beach which are quite far above as you walk along. We literally could not stop taking photos, it was that gorgeous. We walked to the end, cut down to the beach,so clean, took off our shoes and walked back along the soft sand. We literally did not see one other soul the approximate 2 hours we spent there, it felt like we owned it! This was the highlight of our 4 day Nantucket visit!
