Seamen’s Bethel
Full of history about the fishermen. Currently, one could still arrange for a small wedding ceremony here. Beautiful and quaint in one of the most famous and historical seaports.

This is physical history
In preparation for this visit you might read Chapters 7,8,and 9 of Moby Dick, which talk about this Whaleman's Chapel. You can feel the history here. It is all around you, in the names of whalers lost are on the walls, and the pulpit that was added more recently mimics the description in Melville's book. The chapel and the adjoining Mariner's Home have a number of good displays about the whalers life. A must see.
