Love the section through the marsh.

Take it from the Newburyport Garrish bridge and have a tranquil walk through the marsh. It's amazing!

A fantastic walk through the great marsh
This easy paved trail runs for about 1.5 miles through the marsh following the old rail tracks. It a lovely walk with pretty vistas. The trees and plants along the way change with every season. I walked this about every month and always find something of interest. The last time a turtle was laying eggs. Recently a small spur trail was opened that explores the woods and marsh more intimately. (Note however that this loop is over uneven ground). And all of this runs parallel to route 1, though you'd never know it while walking.

    Great Trail
We have been on this trail many times and enjoy it. It is paved the entire way and is an easy flat walk. There are views of woods and marsh. There is free parking at the southern end near the bridge to Newburyport. It can get crowded at times. This is a good outing--a good leisurely walk.
