Rose Art Museum, Massachusetts, United States

4.5 (22 reviews) Spent Ranking #7 in Waltham Art Museums

Well worth a stop

This small museum is not a must see but, if you are in the area, it is well worth a stop. I've been there twice in the past few months and found both the permanent collection and the temporary exhibits to be interesting and well curated. A favorite work is the installation titled, "Mark Dion: The Undisciplined Collector." Visitor's can go into this 1961 collector's den, relax on the couch and choose an old record to play. The visit if free and we had no trouble parking but, this might be different when the university is in session.

    Compact, Well-Curated, Art Museum
The Rose Art Museum is located on the campus of Brandeis University. We found the Rose to be a compact, well-curated, collection of artwork. We went to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit, which we felt was a nicely presented assortment of art that traced Kahlo's life and how her experiences influsenced her work. The Riose did an excellent job of presnting this special exhibit. One floor of the Rose was closed for construction, so we didn't see the whole museum. But we very much enjoyed the visit, and found the employees very helpful.
