Great Real Distillery Tour Whether Local or Visiting
I can't believe that I only just took a tour here, total hidden gem! My friend and I took his friend that was visiting from out of state and got a great tour and tasting. I had been in a ton of brewery tours, but this was my first distillery. Our guide did a great job of taking us through the history of rum in New England and how Privateer makes their various types from scratch. Be sure to sign up ahead of time. It is outstanding!

What a find!
We were in Barbados in December and took a tour of the Mt Gay Rum Distillery thanks to reviews on Trip Advisor. When we came back to Boston, we decided to sign up for the Privateer Rum Tour. Little did we expect that the tour at Privateer Rum's distillery in Ipswich Mass would knock our socks off...and that is even before we had a drop of their incredibly crafted rums. We were so fortunate that Maggie, the President of Privateer conducted our tour. Her knowledge was incredible and her passion for what she does is evident in the product. Kevin headed up our tasting and our conversations ranged from everything from the wood used on the USS Constitution to the best drink bars in Boston. It's so worth the trip to head up to the beautiful town of Ipswich and take the tour and spend the rest of the day exploring the area. We are enjoying some pre Super Bowl drinks made with Ipswich Rum right now with recipes that we picked up at the Distillery. Go Pats!
