    GOOD RESOURCE FOR TRAVELERS
The New Bedford Waterfront Visitors Center was located across from part of the downtown in a scenic setting on Pier 3, the main modern-day commercial fishing wharf. During our visit, we got to see New Bedford's working waterfront. Although it was of modest size, it had some exhibits as well as info cards and pamphlets. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. There was a table where youngsters could do a coloring project. I inquired about the bell hanging outside the building. It was one of New Bedford’s oldest historic items – the William Street Bell which dates from New Bedford’s whaing period. It rang ship’s bells for fishemen. This visitors center is a good resource for travelers, especially for first-time visitors to the New Bedford area. We rate the New Bedford Waterfront Visitors Center at 3.75.
