I heart Mount Holyoke

I love Mount Holyoke! It is the prettiest place in New England in the fall, even if you don't go to school there. The atmosphere is safe, friendly and liberating and I've never been anywhere else like it. Stuff to do there? The greenhouse is easy to breeze by but it's one of the coolest parts of the campus - there's even small jungle room. The art museum always puts on a good show and contains the perfect amount of stuff to see in an afternoon. There's a gravel path that loops upper lake for a scenic not-so-challenging hike, and if you're into horses you should check out the equestrian center, apparently it's one of the best ones in the Northeast. The library looks like a wing of Hogwarts on the inside and has a great coffee shop in the lobby, And check out Kendade, the new green science building, it's pretty spacey. Also the campus center always has student-oriented stuff going on on Friday and Saturday nights. Good times!

    Stunning Campus
I have a daughter who goes to Mount Holyoke College so I am bias – but it is an absolutely beautiful campus with many things to see. The grounds are lovely – they have a couple ponds that have walking trails around them, along with a waterfall or two. The College Art Museum is wonderful – well worth an hour or two visit. It is free to the public and open Tuesdays-Sundays. The Chapel is worth a look see, along with the Science building (Clapp) who’s halls are lined with fossils, minerals, stuffed creatures and, naturally, the requisite prehistoric giant sloth skeleton. The library has one room that is (almost) out of a Harry Potter novel – tall beamed ceilings with multiple flags and stained glass renditions of the other colleges of the Seven Sisters fame. Also worth a visit are the greenhouses – open to the public, very relaxing (my personal favorite is the cactus room). Now the top secret thing to see at MHC is the Skinner Museum – this is off campus a bit and has very odd opening hours, but very, very worth a visit. This is free to the public (but I always leave a donation – it is staffed with volunteers) and is a very eclectic assortment of Victorian era items. Check the web for hours but if you can make it – it is well worth it. Fall and spring are my favorite times to visit. Enjoy!

    College Reunion
Beautiful, classic women’s liberal arts college. Part of 5 College group - MHC, Smith, Amherst, Hampshire, UMass Amherst. Students can take courses at any of five colleges and regular bus system - PVTA - connects. Not left for you to drive there. Highly competitive schools. Great undergraduate focused education, beautiful campus, great food, safe environment. Loyal alumnae have donated to keep campus lovely and vibrant. International student body. Young women who are serious about their college education should strongly consider. Graduate schools and employers rate it very highly. New dining facility lovely. Library Reading Room one one of most beautiful college spaces in US.
