CHURCH WITH SOME DISTINCTIVE ITALIANATE FEATURES

I found the Market Street Baptist Church across the street from Madeline’s Antiques & Collectibles. It was a nice piece of architecture. The tall narrow windows with rounded tops and the double window in front are the marks of Italianate architecture. The front of the building has an unusual shape with the two angled sections on either side of the front entrance. The bracketed roof, millwork trim, and detailed carpentry add to the beauty and style of the building. Another architecture fan happened to came along while I was there. We discussed several of the architectural features. We both rated Market Street Baptist Church at 4.25.
