Great place to visit especially in these times of so much isolation

This small state park is a breath of fresh air. One can choose to rent various small water craft, visit two small beaches, two nice picnic areas or hike around the lake. It's also a great are to visit with friends of family or on your own.

    Great swimming for the kids
Every summer, we make it a point to visit Hopkinton State Park for some swimming at the lower lake. It's a kid-friendly freshwater lake with beach and a large, roped-off swimming section at about 7 feet in depth. Lifeguards (3 stations) are on-duty from 11am to 6pm on summer weekends. The lake is closed to swimming on weekdays. The sand is fine enough (no need for water shoes), but the lifeguards are strict about the guidelines: use only coast guard-approved floaties; no boogie-boards; no rough-housing in the water (the whistle blew quite often to get folks to stop kids from climbing onto their friends' shoulders while in the water). There are large, clean restrooms as well as a good number of grills and picnic tables in the immediate lake area (first-come, first-served), and a large parking lot right by the lake. Of course, there's the rest of the park to enjoy as well!

Get there early on summer weekends.
Great spot for walking, kayaking, swimming, picnicking etc as others have said below. ICYMI for 2015, the entrance fees are increasing to $8 for in state and $10 for out of state cars and $60 for an annual pass. If you are 62, you can get a lifetime pass for $10. The park is open all year but fees are only collected in the summer. The park can be very busy on nice summer weekends and absolutely crazy on the 4th of July.
