Big Park, Tiny Beach, Excellent Visit.
We first discovered half moon in 2004 visiting the Hammond Castle; and then going to Stage Fort Park after; the beach has a lot of algea and the water is COLD - but it has a lot of rocks and greens and it's an excellent place for photos. My kids don't mind the cold so they enjoy the water when they go; there is a lifeguard there; and the bathrooms are always clean. My favorite part of this beach are the benches for picnic; we usually go with family and friends to stay the day; this year my friend got pizza at Sebastian's close to there and it was great. Excellent way to spend a summer day with little ones. Parking is $15 unless you find a meter and walk a bit. There is also a mini snack shack if you want to buy food there rather than bring your own.

    Beautiful Beach but Rocky
My husband and I took our nieces to this beach last summer. It's a great little beach tucked away and easy to miss. The day we went it wasn't too crowded and the parking was reasonable. I suggest brining a grill or your own food. There is a place to get food, but it wasn't that great. It's a bit rocky, so I suggest brining beach shoes so you can walk around. The park is beautiful.
