Cross Country Skiing

This is a great place in the winter to rent good quality and well maintained cross country equipment and ski on the groomed cross country ski trails. There are lots of trails in Great Brook for snowshoers et al, but there are trails groomed ONLY for cross country skiers. Saturday morning is very busy, get there at opening if this is the day for you.

A great destination any time of year.
I first visited Great Brook in winter when I was learning to x country ski. Nice variety of trails, some even available by lantern light for evening skiing. Rentals are reasonable and so is the hot cocoa. But in summer there is also a wonderful walking trail system. Just print your trail map from their website since they're usually out. Dogs on leash are welcome. There's a working dairy farm with ice cream and a beautiful picnic area. One of our favorite local destinations.

A Gem for Cross-Country Skiers in the Boston Suburbs
When there is local natural snow, Great Brook Ski Touring Center does a superb job of grooming trails for both classical and skate cross-country skiing. The trails wind through generally rolling terrain in a variety of scenes: edges of corn fields, small hills, and pond edges, with a working dairy farm at its core. They will rent fine ski equipment (including sleds for towing toddlers), and their website gives up to date information on trail conditions and hours. The staff is super friendly and helpful, so it's a very popular place. There is a simple picnic area in the wood-stove-heated barn where tickets are sold and equipment is rented. Beginner through advanced skiers will enjoy this place.
