Sanctuary and Stillness

As a Cambridge resident, I just discovered this sanctuary yesterday and have walked 15 miles in two days. (It’s amazing how people will find so many things to criticize when this place seems nearly perfect.) Yes, the trails aren’t difficult nor varied but nonetheless beautiful and quiet. I’ve seen more garter snakes than people so far in my 5 hours of walking. Today it was 90 degrees before noon and I still managed to stay in the shade by staying mostly in the forests and pine trails, enjoying the scent. I love the softness of the ground, walking, jogging, and yes even skipping over the pine needles. Pretty cows were grazing in the meadow by the road, looking happily bovine. I hope to go back tomorrow, maybe this time with my pup. What’s not to like?

Have not been here for years and it has not changed
We were in the area and decided to stop and get an ice cream. This was one of those places that I took my kids when they were little because it us a working farm and it has ice cream what more could you want for your kids. Now we just stop fir ice cream. Parking was plentiful and everything was nicely maintained. My kids lived seeing the farm animals and they are still there if they were good we all got ice cream that I was told was made from the cows that are there on the farm. They have plenty of walking trails that are also populated with bicycles and horses. During the winter they (right next door) have cross country skiing so we’ll be back when there is snow. Really enjoyed our quick stop and if you are a family bring the kids.

Walking Opportunities on a Dairy Farm
Spent between 1 to 2 hours here in early September. 1). Found the signs on the trails are very limited and could not find a trail. 2). Went here a day after it rained and some trails were still wet. 3). Ice cream place was crowded 4) If you want to get close to dairy animals, you can. 5). We did the bog trail (not located at the actual state park) and it is free to walk around. Definitely some good walking. Could be a better state park if better signs are added.
