Birding is excellent at vrious times of the year.
The Drumlin is an isolated round hill, reportedly dumped here by a glacier. It sits near the center of Lancaster, so there is no sense of wilderness here. There is a path around the drumlin, and there is a path going over the top of the drumlin. Either way, the walk is about a mile. From the top, there is a view of the adjacent hay field. This area is wet in the spring and attracts migrating geese and ducks. The drumlin grass is left to grow well into the summer in order to provide a nesting place for grassland birds. This has been a great success for Bobolinks and Savannah Sparrows.

A sledding mecca- or the perfect sunset or moon gazing spot with your puppy.
Visiting the Drumlin is free and pretty year round. The Trustees of the Reservation own and management this property. They maintain a nice grass path mowed to the summit- a 200 yard walk up a gradual hill. From the peak you gaze over Lancaster's historic town center. This is a great place to walk a dog. There is an inviting brook at the base of the hill that may be a good place for the puppy to splash. This is the best, best place to sled! A gentle slop facing west is great for a nice long run with the kids. Careful if you get too much speed up-there is a brook before you get to the road. Park along George Hill Rd or if you have to Langen Rd but George HIll Rd is safer. If it is busy for sledding South Lancaster Academy's parking lot across the street is a good spot.
