Cochituate State Park, Massachusetts, United States
4.0 (26 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Natick State Parks
Nice little beach for the kids to swim.
Stopped by after leaving the mall and saw folks paddle boarding... I was so jealous! Looks like you can kayak, canoe or learn to sail there.

Close to the City
If you don't want to have to travel far from Boston, Cochituate is the place to go. We didn't hike, but we explored the lake via kayak. The lake is deceptively large and my kids loved passing under bridges/through tunnels as we explored. This is an urban park. I imagine it gets quite crowded on the weekends. It is not secluded. You can hear and see road traffic from parts of the lake. I give it four stars because if you live in the city you can go there on a whim for a little R & R without much advance planning, but it is not for those looking to truly commune with nature as there are constant reminders of city life.

Lake/Boats but Swim?- I wouldn't
Not the best, full of mosquitos and ticks in season. Not overly clean, not enough parking and sometimes I suspect troyble can happen there. There are prettier places within the 15 mile area.
