Butternut Farm Golf Club, Massachusetts, United States

3.5 (18 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Stow Golf Courses

tight beautiful course; great senior rates

I played here because of their great senior rates. What I found was a very well maintained golf course that was fun to play. It is crowded so be sure to book a Tee Time. The course personnel were very helpful and friendly. I was playing alone so they found me a compatible playing partner. The course is fairly tight so you need to hit good shots and think about your positioning. This makes it fun and challenging. Also, the 10th hole is 600 yards (or greater) so be prepared to hit a few good shots to make the green.

    Go elsewhere if you can
Arrived early for our tee time only to be told there was no way we could go out as scheduled. After blocking out our only free afternoon on a business trip and paying a hefty Uber fee to get there, this was unwelcome news. The old curmudgeon in charge of scheduling was totally unapologetic and said if we wanted to play we could only go now and only 9 holes. Really, we had a tee time for 18 holes. He could care less and blamed the scheduler but made 0 effort to accommodate us. Course is in just ok condition, cart path is like Illinois roads, full of pot holes. Most Tee boxes are missing grass. We waited 10 minutes on one hole as the mower was in the middle of the fairway and mower could care less if we were ready to tee off. Rental clubs are worst I’ve ever used. You get a driver, 3w, 5w, pw, 9, 8,7,6 & putter. That’s it. I honestly have no idea how this place stays in business. I would have accepted everything and given a sour review but the pro shop guy was rude and totally ignored our tee time. Not acceptable.

    Very Narrow
It's a beautiful location and the staff pleasant. The fairways are quite narrow, however. I prefer the golfing at nearby Stow Acres where there are 2 courses and less chance of the embarrassment of hitting into the next fairway!
