Jury duty in Superior court.

I dedicate this review to Us the Pink Jury. Judge Brown and the Great Court Officers and Staff at the Bristol county Superior court in Taunton. Justice was seen October 27th in Taunton. Thankyou all for a great experience. This historic building built in 1826 once jailed Lizzie Borden in the basement and has been a historical building since 1978. I was not happy about Jury duty, but If I was called to serve again in Taunton I would definitely serve again in this Historic building with all these wonderful people.

Oh my! Is it a courthouse! My favorite!
Another silly attraction. Yes travelers, come see the Bristol County Courthouse, also known as "Ole Copper Top". Nowhere else will you see a court house!

An historic and beautiful building in need of restoration.
I've been in this courthouse on numerous occasions, to testify, to observe trial verdicts, and to remove evidence that was housed there. I had the pleasure of being able to look around in the basement level and look through some of the old court papers and trial court warrants from the 1800's in the old filing cabinets. The building has interior areas which have suffered water damage and there are areas where the plaster needs to be professionally repaired. There are also ceilings and walls that need touching up where paint is peeling. The copper flame that once adorned the top was removed over a decade ago because it was tilting. It remains in storage someplace. I would love to see this building get the needed, professional restoration work which it needs and deserves. I hope to see the flame back on the top of the dome again. Unbelievably, an acrobat stuntman scaled the building and did a hand stand on top of the peak, way back when Taunton had some anniversary or other celebration going on over 50 years ago. Crazy.
