Bradley Palmer State Park, Massachusetts, United States

4.5 (4 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in Topsfield Hiking Trails

Favorite spot to careen with natur after going to Rowley Market Basket

Many times after shopping at Market Basket, my boyfriend and I I stop at the park. HE usually smokes and I eat sushi. The other people range in age from infants to middle age. It is also a highly diverse spot.

    Bradley Palmer--Great for all seasons
Bradley Palmer State Park is a gem for hikers, dog walkers, equestrians and families. There is an extensive trail system that is well marked (numbered.) You could hike, walk, trail run, mountain bike or go horse back riding for hours. The trails are well-maintained. There is a ranger station on the grounds. In winter you can snowshoe or cross-country ski. In summer, there is a kiddie-pool area that opens that has picnic tables and its own parking lot and bathrooms. The Ipswich River also borders the property so you can take your own kayak or canoe and go down the river (Ask about launch locations*). Foote Bros. Canoes, located adjacent to the state park does rent canoes and kayaks. It's a great spot to be in nature and not feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Download a trail map before you go or get one at the ranger station or kiosk. Beautiful place--just one caveat...bring bug/tick spray in spring/summer. Ticks (especially deer ticks) in New England are brutal!

Great trails for year round activity
This is a great park for hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing (if it would snow more consistently). It is linked with several other state forests via those trails, so the mileage and divers terrain are virtually limitless.
