A Market Dinner

After reading about the Bow Market in the Washington Post, we decided to head to Somerville for dinner. It was an easy Green Line T ride from Bay Back and then a 10 or 15 minute walk, which was delightful on a nice evening. We made reservations on the Market's website (cost $6) and our table was ready for us on time. You primarily order on your phone after scanning a QR code. This was fine, but we found the system hard to use, as in order to track your order, you have to create an account. You can also order at the shops. Once our food arrived (it took a while), it was delicious. We had pizza from the pizza shop and falafel from the Middle Eastern restaurant. Also ordered drinks from the Beach Bar, which arrived very quickly. Overall, I would go back as the food was good, but I'm not sure I would go out of my way again to head out that far.

    Fun, funky, local
Fun, funky, and local. We went Sunday evening and after figuring out that basically this is an upscale food court where instead of hunting and hoping for a table, you reserve one. Other than that just like a food court. There are great restaurant options BUT check because the all have different hours including some that close early on Sunday. So some of the places we wanted to try were closed . We still managed to good eats. The wine store has great selections but be prepared to pay.

Fun stop on a sunny day
Bow Market has some great little takeout places with food from a number of countries/ cultures. I had lunch and bought some frozen empanadas and sauce to take home from the Uruguayan shop -- it's not all that easy in Massachusetts to find good food from that corner of the world! The shops upstairs were fun, too, but a bit too crowded, hipster, and expensive for me. Good browsing (pre-Covid), and you can cover the whole market in a couple of hours. One thing to note: GPS and similar apps will take you to the wrong side of the block, so check the market's website for good directions.
