Ashland State Park, Massachusetts, United States

4.5 (27 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #1 in Ashland State Parks • Bodies of Water • Hiking Trails

A nice place for a walk

I've come here a few times with my friend and her dog. We've parked at the Community Center and also on the other side of the park on Spring Street near the boat launch. To do a loop around the reservoir is about 3 miles. There are a few geocaches hidden in the park, which I enjoyed finding. There is an entrance fee during the summer if you drive in from the Community Center to the swimming area, but you can avoid that by parking and walking.

Great park for a run and swim
Ashland State Park is not the biggest park, but it has lots of great trails and places to jump in the water. There is also a boat launch if you'd like to fish, kayak, stand-up paddle, etc. The best part of all is that dogs can run off leash (as long as you keep them on leash near the swimming beach). But be careful! There are some parts of the park that are close to roads. My brother escaped once and was almost hit by a car.

    Relaxing
This is a great place to take a walk, swim or a quick canoe ride. You can walk the entire circumference of the reservoir easily in a couple hours although as someone noted it can be rocky. If you just walk down to the dam area and just sit - it can be really relaxing and you’ll meet some great people
