QUAKER MEETING HOUSE WHERE JOHN GREENLEAF WHITTIER WORSHIPPED
After visiting Amesbury Town Park, I doubled back to the Amesbury Friends Meeting House which I’d spotted earlier. It was built in 1850 in the Greek Revival style. It is a 1½ story wood-frame building with clapboards and a gabled roof. It is well-preserved. Research revealed that poet John Greenleaf Whittier had something to do with the construction of the meeting house. Since he lived nearby, it’s logical that he worshiped there. The meeting house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. I rate the Amesbury Friends Meeting House at 4.0. The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews. If you found this review useful, please click HELPFUL.
