Gerry Island, Massachusetts, United States
5.0 (1 review) Spent Ranking #12 in Marblehead Islands
A mini-Mont St. Michel for Americans
This lovely island, named after one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and known for many other achievements (as well as one not well publicized, i.e. the creator of "gerrymandering,") is just off the coast of Marblehead near Little Harbor. From one hour before to one hour after "dead low tide," it is easy to walk out on a land bridge to the island. The island itself is lovely, filled with greenery, left natural, with some nice benches to sit on and contemplate the island and its surroundings, good views of Crowninshield Island and Fort Sewall.
