Historical island
There is a statue of McArthur by beach and also a ruin of his house during the war. But the island need a lot of attention and development. The island looks abandoned.

Amazing untapped WWII history
MacArthur Island is a hidden gem of WWII history easily reached by speedboat from D’Aloha Resort on Maratua Island, Indonesia (see my review). We spent a half day here, but as tourism increases, this Island’s hidden treasures will be opened up. General MacArthur used it as his base and a statue of him dominates the beach. There is also a commemorative here from the Indonesian Government, needing some TLC. From the statue you can see two nearby small flat islands that MacArthur decorated as warships, complete with lights, as decoys in case of Japanese attacks. There must be a million secrets hidden in the jungle of this island. I look forward to returning when it is more developed.
