Beautiful church and setting
Drove to Somuncu Baba mosque. There has been a mosque on this site since the 13th century. Very beautiful setting and facility. Cannot go in on Friday’s as they have prayer all day in the entrance area.

Worth the trip from Malatya
The tomb of Somuncu Baba, is located in the town of Darende, 110km from Malatya city. The tomb lies in a very picturesque gorge & includes other activities as picnic areas, trout farm restaurant, rafting and valley walks. Somuncu Baba is reputed to have been a close relative of Mohammed himself & although small & hidden-away, the tomb-cami area is beautiful within the forest. The valley walk back to Darende(1km), is also unexpectedly beautiful in parts & disappointingly ugly due to some neglect. The mini bus to/from Darende runs hourly from a Malatya minibus depot approx. 1km west of the Giant apricot. You can visit the Gurpinar waterfall(şelale) while in Darende, but I wasn't impressed.
