The Fuerstenberg museum is great!! Sean Fuerstenberg

See. Experience. Understanding. The MUSEUM SCHLOSS FÜRSTENBERG in the heart of the Weserbergland brings three centuries of porcelain history to life. Visitors can experience the fascination of porcelain at extraordinary hands-on stations and get to know the production and the different epochs and styles at the same time. Classic exhibition areas and precious collections alternate with interactive exhibits and so-called hands-on stations where touching is expressly desired. Different tea and coffee pots tell their stories and decorations dance by means of digital projections in the truest sense of the word on white vases. "Table, set yourself" is the motto with more than 250 individual pieces of porcelain, which can be combined by the visitors themselves and arranged on a table. Experience fine porcelain up close, marvel at it or design it yourself - with this concept the MUSEUM SCHLOSS FÜRSTENBERG offers many hours of infotainment for all ages.

Exciting porcelain experience in fantastic environments
The Museum Schloss Fürstenberg both tells the story of the old porcelain manufactory and at the same time gives the visitors - including children - the possibility to touch, feel and work with this fantastic ceramic material. The castle, situated high above the river Weser, gives the visit an extra dimension.

    White gold
For 8.50 Eur you get to see 3 floors of Count Fürstenberg's Porcelain Manufactur over the centuries. It is the second oldest company in Germany and possibly in Europe. I had only 45 minutes for my tour but they say that you need to allow 90 minutes, which seems right. Beautiful historical pieces were crammed together on the ground floor - that makes it hard to appreciate the porcelain from all sides. On the second floor you can watch porcellain painters at work - but they had gone by the time I arrived. You can also assemble your own fav (modern ) porcellain from a generously stocked collection on a shelf. Plus the view of the old wine terrasses along the river is lovely from the top floor. The fashion exhibits were somehow disappointing and I really couldn't see a connection with the porcellain either. Nip into the cafe in the historical building next door that uses all their own porcellain. And a trip to the factory outlet is a must when you're there. I am a porcellain fan - so I was delighted. And if you have some time left, go and see the Weser Renaissance castle Bevern in Bevern.
