Mühlenmuseum Gifhorn, Lower Saxony, Germany

4.5 (64 reviews) Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #1 in Gifhorn Speciality Museums

Peaceful and pleasant

Great place to visit, even for those who is not a big fan of windmills. It is a park built from scratch in the 70's but many of the mills contain original parts. Excellent reconstruction work. Nice walk for a morning or afternoon in family. Little choice of catering. Don't miss the Orthodox wood church. It's paid, it's a replica, but it's worth it.

    So many different mills!
We went there on a sunny Saturday and were amazed by so many different mills, the small lake, the Russian church and the bakery in the "Gasthof". A really nice place to go to and learn about the different mills from all around the world. You should take some 3 hours to see all and it is worth going there.

    Large Unique Mill Museum
This museum has mills from around the world that have been moved to this large park. You can go inside most of them and many are operating. Most are operated by wind, but there are other types. There are also models of many different kinds of mills in one of the buildings. There is an on-site bakery that makes delicious breads from freshly ground flour. The breads are baked in their large wood fired ovens. There are shady places to sit outside the bakery to enjoy the bread. Plan to spend at least three hours walking and exploring this amazing place.
