Quick Sunday visit
It is not very famous, but impressive UNESCO site. The have a lot to see and learn about monks who lives there and their home. The only downside is very little information in language then German.

Beautifully done museum in Walkenried
The tour through the monastery is very cool. It is just so old and things are labeled well, but mostly in German. The museum is absolutely amazing-there are artifacts as well as really great exhibits about the entire history of the monastery. Again all in German, but with the Google translate app you could interpret most of it. It is really beautifully done. Do the museum tour first and then walk around the grounds, so you have an appreciation for the history of the place. For very young children it may not be as interesting but our 9 year old son liked it.

Impressive museum taking you back in time
A nice afternoon in walkenried. The museum does not look it from the outside, but a an absolute must see. The audiotour takes you right back in time, while walking through the old buildings. The tour explains really well the life and time of the monks. You learn about the origins of these klosters.
