Beautiful fishing harbour
This is truly one of the quaintest fishing harbours on the North Sea of Germany. There are a number of restaurants and hotels right on the water's edge - as I write one of the major hotels is being rebuilt. There is a bronze statue of two fishermen looking out over the fishing boats. The funny thing is that the one statue of the fisher leaning over looking out across all the boats has a shiny spot on his bottom. I don't know why but so many people go up to this statue and tap him on the backside. It's a thing somehow.

A small harbour with a huge amount to see and experience.
As it happened we were there for the Schuetzenfest and watched the march and listened to the band. Harbour is built in a half circle with paths on several levels, quaint cafes all around, there is a harbour flood gate with inscriptions to discover on the wall and a huge ground clock / weather indicator under a massive glass dome, fascinating stuff for kids. Some well known harbour personalities in bronze, fishing boats galore, a super day out for kids and adults alike.

Great little harbour
It is not a big harbour but a very lovely one. Dreamy with many fisher boats and some sightseeing tours. Around a few hotels and restaurants. If you love fish, then this is place to be!
