Deutsches Marinemuseum Wilhelmshaven, Lower Saxony, Germany

A great musuem to visit if you are into history and naval warfare
The admission is free of charge, if you are wearing a service uniform or have a valid military service ID ready, otherwise, the entry costs 14 € for adults. It is located in an easy to reach place. It will probably take 2-3 hours to complete the full tour around all of the ships (and there are at least 5 you can get on or in (in the case of the submarine)). The enjoyment is amplified if you actually know a little about the navy. The ships are from slightly different service periods, therefore it is interesting to note the layout and equipment differences between them.

A Good Starter Maritime Museum
Germans do a great job or explaining the rise of fascism and in this instance it is paired with the history of German sea power. The museum is relatively small but does allow walking tours through three class of ships, the largest being a Destroyer class. It was not possible to tour the submarine due to COVID conditions. Plan on a 3 hour stay at a minimum.

German Navy
The museum is situated in the southern part of Wilhelmshaven. An important part of the museum is a number of navy vessels, including a submarine and a large guided-missile destroyer. The permanent exhibition describes German Naval history from 1848, including WWI, the 1918/19 revolution, and of course WWII. Also the role of the German Navy in the Federal Republic is shown. Several interesting exhibits are on show, such as a large number of ship models and original historic documents.
