Amazing-Great Experience

This was definitely a powerful experience and I would absolutely recommend! The church was closed due to construction, so that was a bit disappointing, but we went in the morning near opening time and it was not crowded at all. The weather was perfect. Kids 5 and under are free. We opted to rent a car on Canal street and drove. The bus tour charges for every person even though children 5 abs under are free. $75 direct through Whitney Plantation for 5 people. $257 for bus tour for 5 people because they make you pay for a child under 5, which is free through the plantation. Of course we had the cost of the rental but we could come and go as we please do it didn’t take our entire day. We grabbed lunch on the way back! It was a great time with family.

Whitney Tour with Grayhound is a Must!! Learn about who made the Plantation a “Plantation”, it is very eye opening
If you choose one plantation tour while in the New Orleans area I HIGHLY recommend the Whitney. They do an ahmazing job of telling the story from the slaves perspective. I choose this one because If you think about it, the plantations wouldn’t be around without the people who were taken to work them. I hope you are lucky enough to have George as your driver ?. He went above and above to ensure we were informed on our ride to and from the plantation which left from the French Quarter in NOLA

Very good overview of the life of the enslaved on a sugar cane plantation
We came to Whitney immediately following our tour of another nearby plantation. At the first tour the focus was mostly on the “Big House” with a brief bit about the lives of the enslaved. Whitney was the exact opposite of that: a brief bit of the main house with almost the total focus on the lives of the enslaved. Kristyn, our guide, was very knowledgeable, spoke clearly and with a volume that was easy to hear. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.
