Amazing plantation

Go beyond the myths of the American South at Laura, where intimate, first-hand accounts explore the lives of four generations of one Louisiana Creole family, both free and enslaved. Laura’s new, permanent exhibit examines in biographical detail the lives of Africans on the plantation, from enslavement into the 20th century. Along the Great River Road only 50 minutes from New Orleans, the fully guided experience includes the Big House, gardens & original 1840s slave cabins. Laura is open daily from 9:30AM - 5PM except for major holidays. The first tour of the day begins at 10:00 AM until the last tour of the day at 3:20 PM.

    Must do in NOLA
This is a tour you must do. We were with my parents and my teenage kids. We all thought it was the best tour we’ve ever been on and largely in part because of our tour guide, Logan. He did an amazing job in telling the stories of both the owners of the plantation and the enslaved. There were about 35 people on our tour and our tour guide made sure everyone was in the room before he started talking. We didn’t miss anything. We thank you Logan for telling us the stories of the Laura Plantation.

    I learned so much!
We took a tour of the Laura Plantation because I had read reviews that this tour presented a researched and honest story of all the people who lived and worked there. Our tour with Logan did not disappoint. He presented the story of the many generations who occupied this unique Creole home. The home is authentically restored and Logan was a marvelous story teller. Parking is free, gift shop is very nice, and a well organized free small museum is included in the tour.
