    Enchanting
There is something magical about Houmas House. Stepping into the gardens, you feel something shift in the air around you. It is obvious that the home's owner has taken great care to curate a museum that feels authentic and original while capturing the whimsy and grandeur of a time long past. The house and gardens offer a unique and fitting blend of eclectic and historically accurate pieces that set Houmas House aside from other River Road plantations. I will definitely return in the future, and suggest any NOLA area visitor take time to add this plantation to any trip itinerary. The tour guide was professional and knowledgeable. The Carriage House, an onsite restaurant, was beautiful and dinner was delicious, the staff there were very helpful. My only complaint was that the staff in the plantation store weren't overly helpful and didn't provide any sort of map, which left us wandering around a bit (a bit stressful since it was after dark and we didn't want to overstep/intrude knowing that the home's owner lives on the premises). That said, they were kids and we were able to get settled eventually so it was all well and good. A sweet worker from the restaurant even walked us almost all the way back out after dinner since we arrived after dark and weren't familiar with the grounds.

    Amazing Estate - Fabulous Tour
This property is amazing and the woman who gave us our tour was wonderful (I'm sorry I can't remember her name). She delivered so much information as she led us through the beautiful home and the history of the land and evolution into a successful sugarcane plantation. This tour is value packed. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and would make a beautiful venue for any event. There is also a large museum and two gift shops on the property (one being a year-round Christmas store). Add this one to your must-see list when visiting southern Louisiana!
