Updated in 2016 to a new, digital projection-mapped show, guests visiting Battles for Chattanooga will now be able to visualize Chattanooga’s Civil War history as the battles come to life in a digital panoramic display. The new show involves multimedia projection mapping with high color saturation, short-throw digital projectors, solid-state media players and 3-D modeling software. This one-of-a-kind storytelling experience uses the latest technology to bring to life the tumultuous battle days of one of our country’s greatest struggles fought here in November of 1863. Hear and see about Chattanooga’s Battle Above the Clouds and Sherman’s assault on Missionary Ridge before his historic March to the Sea. See an excellent relic and weapon collection while perusing the bookstore for well-known works about the Civil War.

    Small area where you could sit and have a drink
    The day we visited the Battles for Chattanooga, the only part that was open was the gift shop. Interesting as it was, it wasn't worth going out of the way to visit. The only benefit, though, was that it had a small area where you could sit and have a drink. The only place this was available and it was like finding an oasis in a desert.

    Good but Backwards
    This would have received a higher grade for two reasons. 1. This tiny location should be integrated with the park/battle site next door. This ala carte paying thing does not make sense so we did not go into the park, which looked lovely. 2. The map is backwards. Where we were sitting should have been on Lookout Mountain. But east was to our left and north was south. I was constantly having to reverse my perception to even enjoy the diorama and the story. Otherwise it was well done and explained a lot of things I did not realize about the importance of the battles for Chattanooga. Take time to go to this attraction.
