    Hidden Highlights Tour
We visited here previously but took the Vergers Tour. We returned today and took the Hidden Highligjts Tour which was a great additional experience. It isn't easy to find information about it on their website. It isn't something you can reserve ahead of time. You can only book it at the time of entry. We booked our regular entry ticket for the first time slot of the day to try and have the best chance of getting on to one of the Hidden Highlights Tours that day. The group size is small and there are only 3 yours per day, I believe. There were 7 people in our group. The first area we were shown was an archeological dig with numerous human remains protruding from the soil. cleary visible. Then we were shown areas in the Abbey where historical events and ongoing routine events are conducted. The last stop was the Queen's Jubilee Gallery at the top of the Abbey where we were left to explore the exhibits at our our speed. The views down into the church from up above were stunning! Our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. After the Hidden Highlights Tour we had lunch in the Cafe and then went back to do the general tour with the audio guide since we hadn't been there for 7 years and appreciated the review. We highly recommend the Hidden Highlights Tour!

    Fascinating but entry needs tweaking
Really enjoyed my visit here. The Abbey is spectacular both inside and out. Lots of history, an audio tour available, you are able to upgrade your entry pass FREE for a yearly ticket, so if local can spread it out over a few visits. Small guide book was worth purchasing. The extra for the Queen's Galleries was worth paying. Lots more history up there. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Photography allowed inside, but NOT in the Queen's Galleries. Also ate in the restaurant. Good selection and very reasonably priced, especially for location. Quick service, you can book ahead and reserve a table. Only criticism, prebooked tickets to guarantee entry, but along with other ticket holders, had to join the queue for all. This resulted in standing in line for nearly 45 minutes, which seems to take away the point of pre-booking (aside from guaranteeing entry). One of the entrance points should be set aside for pre-booked ticket holders.
