Brian is the best tour guide!
Ask for the guide Brian. He's brilliant! We were a group of 25 on a private tour of the cathedral floor and crypt. Brian's delivery was the perfect combo of fascinating and informative with a touch of humour. It was amazing to see the suspended staircase and to hear the stories behind the artworks and building. I especially liked hearing about the WWII firewatchers and their heroic work. On Brian's recommendation we went up in the dome after the tour, 500+ steps but worth it! Highly recommend the tour if you get the chance, it makes this iconic building that bit extra special and is worth every penny.

Stunning architecture...but beware the cost of entry
I had visited once previously many years ago but on this trip, our family arrived after closing time (4.30 pm on most days of the week), so had to be content with a stroll around this massive church instead. Designed by Sir Christopher Wren in the years spanning the years just before and after the Great Fire of London, St Paul's Cathedral is a mix of architectural styles with elements of neoclassicism, baroque, and gothic styles. The result is a visually stunning building with lovely proportions, topped by its iconic dome. And aided by its location on the highest point of the City of London, easily visible from many parts of the capital. And as befitting a church of its stature, the interior is also quite an eyeful. The best way to visit is to participate in one of the church's regular services. Outside of this, the church runs sightseeing tours that are quite pricey.
