For European groundhoppers, VVV Venlo
It may be right on the German border, but this is very much Dutch football and a ground very much worth visiting. The main hotels are on the other side of Venlo, but it still doesn't take long to get there and there is a large car park at the stadium, that is on a main road. You must check that the game you want to see is not a 'members' game, where you need a club card. There are only very few like that though! The ground holds around 8,000 and with average crowds around 4,500, you can buy a ticket at the ground on the day of the game. To get a ticket. you need to visit the 'UFO' which is situated by the road. With tickets just 10 Euro's for professional football, it's well worth it! There is a large shop at the ground selling VVV Velno merchandise and all very reasonably priced. As you look at the ground, to your left, go to the end and there is a supporters bar. I brought my UK team's scarf and that is no on the ceiling. The supporters are very welcoming to visitors and love to chat about football. The entrance for three sides of the ground is down a slope. To the left is a well stocked food bar that does really nice food. Inside there are further food and drink bars, with beer also available. The programme was just 50 cents and even though I can't read Dutch, it had statistical information I could read. VVV play on an artificial pitch and the atmosphere is really good. Well worth a visit and a good 'tick'!
