    Wonderful Surprise
We had wanted to do a tour of the Coal Mine however, there are no tours in English and after doing the Velvet Cave with no English it just was not worth it to us to pay for things we can't understand. So we checked out this place and it is a self guided tour. They had a wonderful booklet in English to go along with it. This booklet was just full of information and history. This walk through part of the cave system to see the carvings of Marlstone and learn the history of the area was great! To see examples of a chapel from the time when Priests had to literally go underground - wonderful. A carved version of the famous Nightwatch! Incredible. At one point there is a section where you can get a small piece of the marlstone and they have tools etc. You can carve your own masterpiece. My husband and I had so much fun doing this, who knew we could have so much fun creating things! This was very much worth the price.

    It was fun
Former mergel mine. Interesting sculptures. Well presented history of the mine. And in the end, fun: they give you pieces of mergel (very soft stone, raw material for cement) and tools, you can make your own creation. Place just a little bit dusty.
