Superb. Very well presented and very informative. Children love it.

The Acquario di Genova was built on the occasion of the Expo ’92, a celebration of the fifth centenary of the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus, with the intention of restructuring and enhancing an area full of history and traditions, located in the heart of Genoa’s historic centre, the Porto Antico (the old port). It’s the biggest aquarium in Europe.

A great aquarium, but avoid the weekends
Even though they are basically prisons for animals, I love well kept aquariums, and the one in Genoa is one of the best I have so far been lucky to visit. If you dont like standing in queues and dont want to have huge amounts of people (including many children) with you in the aquarium, avoid the weekends at all costs. I guess everybody is different, but for me, standing in line for more than an hour, to enter a place with a lot of people, many of them screaming, crying etc., is not at all what I am looking for. You want to reserve your entering time online. Choose a time early in the morning, and not on the weekend, so that you will able to enjoy the really wonderful aquarium the way it should be enjoyed.

Nice aquarium in the harbour of Genoa
My wife, kids (2 and 4 years old) and I visited the Acquario di Genova in August. In general the Acquario is nice and it was interesting for both the kids and us. During our visit, it was pretty crowed and the waiting outside was a little chaotic. Also the staff was not that kind and a little stressed, most likely to the amount of people visiting the Acquario. The pools of the animals are adequate and the animals were healthy and happy (as far as we can tell). Of course, an aquarium can't be compared to the natural habitat, but we really hope that the money earned by the Acquario is used to protect the environment and animals (as described by the Acquario). All in all, we had a nice time at the Acquario di Genova and from our point of view it's worth a visit.
