Unique Beautiful coastal walk among the rocks
I took the light rail train line 3 from a building behind the railway station to the terminal stop at Golden Pebble Beach (RMB 8 for 50 mins journey). On arrival, I booked bus ticket from the tourist information centre on the right after exiting from station. Then I boarded the red bus and there are brochures at the ticket centre and I could find the stop I needed. It is a popular stop and many people alighted here. It is about 10 mins ride away. Entrance ticket is RMB 70 and the sceneries and types of rocks varies. At half way point one can sit down for a seafood meal. At the end of it, I just followed the crowd and took the bus out before finally changing to one that will bring me to the station. I would have love to explore more places if I have the time. On the return journey, I stopped at the development zone stop and took a taxi to visit the numerous cherry farms at Big Black Mountain for cherry picking. I would highly recommend this Geopark when visiting Dalian.

Great Coastal Formations
This area is quite a ways from the core of the city but if you want to get out and see something we would recommend this! There are many named formations along the coast. The Dinosaur Drinking the Sea formation is just outside the park. The trails are not well maintained in some spots and appear to be overgrown in some areas so bring good shows and maybe consider wearing long pants. There are places to grab a snack or a quick drink. This is at the east end of Golden Pebble Beach. To get here you can take the metro line 3 all the way to the end to Golden Pebble Beach (Jinshitan) Station and hop in a Didi to Dinosaur Tanhai. You may have to wait for a Didi to pick you up as this is out of the way.
