Awesome Vacation!!
I have never been to Garland in the summer, but have had several WONDERFUL experiences in the winter season. My first time to Garland was for their Dr. Zhivago event. We boarded a horse-drawn sleigh at sunset with a complimentary hot tottie. After a 45 minute ride through the woods (with giant snow flakes falling on our heads!), we arrived at an old hunting cabin. My husband and I looked at each other like, "We're eating HERE!" When you entered the cabin, it seemed magical. You were greated by a man in a tuxedo playing a violin, and another passing out glasses of champagne or warm drinks. The man's wife was taking your coats and steering you towards the large fireplace to warm up. The one large dining table (the room was very small) was formally set with fine linens, and dinner was a 5 course gourmet wild game meal. Every course was great. During dinner, the husband and wife played their guitar and sang. After dinner, when the drinks were flowing freely, they took song requests and some people even found a corner to dance. The ride back was fun and everyone snuggled together to keep warm. (All together, the ride and dinner holds 10-15 couples.) We have also attended their Gourmet Glide weekend where you cross-country ski through the woods. They have stations set up throughout the woods with different appetizers, food, and snacks. At one station you will find a full turkey dinner, and at the pond you can catch and cook your own fish next to a roaring bonfire, at the last station there is only desert. FUN!! I have always stayed in the gorgeous and quaint cottages on the property (I've never stayed in the Lodge and have no idea what it's like). The rooms are spectacular with deep green and maroon colors and a large marbled bathroom. The bed is a huge step-up bed and there is also a small kitchette and living room. WoodBoot Golf Outing 2015
We had a group of 20 enthusiastic golfers participate in the WoodBoot Open at Garland from May 21 through 24. This is the 3rd consecutive year for our party to stay and play at Garland. With the weather being exceptionally cooperative, this year's stay proved to be the best to date. All of our members where highly complimentary on the shape of all four courses we played, reserving their highest praise for the Fountains course. We found the resort staff (bars and restaurant) very courteous and helpful, and accommodations in the Single Villas and the Condo units were spacious and very comfortable. The staff at the pro shop were very prompt and professional in having our clubs carted and ready to go for each of our outings and were able to provide us with the tee-times and golfing formats we requested. All in all a very good golfing experience was had by all. We will look forward to a similar outing at Garland next year.
