Terrifying roof walk!

We arrived in time to take to the roof without realising just what we were in for. It is made of corrugated iron and is very rusty and not well bolted down. HOWEVER, there was a clear set of arrows to follow and the guide was pointing out all the vantage points that were had during the revolution. When you return to terra firma, there is an interesting section at the beginning of the museum which we should have seen first. The courtyard has some good fresco style paintings of the history of the revolution. The guide spoke very good English and is a veteran of that time (1980's)

    Very Intersting History!
I decided to visit this attraction on my last day in Leon. I got an English speaking guide named, Marge and she gave me a very interesting history of Nicaragua. There are newspaper clippings in Spanish, with Exhibit Numbers. She used them to explain the history of the struggles of Nicaragua for independence, starting with Sandino, FSLN, etc. She also talked about the involvement of USA in their struggles for independence. Tip: Ignore the physical condition of the place, the presence of birds’s poop and just listen to the explanations of the Tour guide. Glad I did, got to understand what happened here in Nicaragua!

    Ask for Marcello
This museum needs financial assistance and understand that the guides giving tours are actual Sandanista fighters. They are actually occupying this space to stop a developer from turning this into a hotel. The guides will show you the actual windows they fought from and so much more. You get a great history of Nicaragua and the crap they have dealt with since the 1800's. It may make you look at the US foriegn policy towards Nicaragua a little differently. Ask for Marcello, he was awesome. Wait until he shows you the bazooka! We enjoyed this and Marcello so much that we left, bought Nacatamales and beers 6 blocks away and returned to share this as lunch with Marcello and some of the veterans. Great tour offering a great perspective on a horrible period in Nicaraguan history and a black spot on USA's forgien policy towards Central America. (Don't worry USA, we still like you). You really understand why FLSN is so strong in this part of Nicaragua after this tour.
