My favorite Park in Laredo
At first sight Slaughter park could be a regular city park, with a baseball field, bathrooms, playground for kids. But if you walk trough all this, at the back you will find the nature trails. Since these are next to the river, the trails are full of trees and green areas. It's like you had traveled to another place, very far away from the desert lands of Laredo. I love it. But I will not recommend to walk there alone or at late night. It can be kind of creepy and lonely.

Birding on the Rio Grande River
Lovely city park with hiking trails along the river. Plenty of opportunities for birders to add new species - including chachalaca, green parakeet, white-collared seedeater, cormorants and kingfishers. There's also a playground for families with small children.
