Worth the views!

My friend and I did this hike and totally love the breathtaking view at the end of this hike. One can see Molokai and Maui. The hike is not hard or long as it is on a 4x4 road. I highly suggest doing this 5 mile round trip hike.

    Great hike
We took this hike through the Four Seasons' hotel. We were staying at the beach, so took the shuttle up to the Lodge and were met by Kevin who guided us. The hike is 5 miles so be sure to set aside 2 hours unless you intend on running. Moderate level difficulty--the most difficult part was steering clear of the mud--but well worth it once we got the ridge and saw the views. Extraordinary! There aren't a lot of activities on Lana'i, but this one is well worth your time.

    Explore Diverse Lanai Topography
Definitely go early and bring your water. The Koloiki Ridge hike is 5 miles round trip from the golf course at the Lodge at Koele to a point on the Koloiki Ridge with views out to the neighboring islands of Maui and Moloka'i, if the cloud cover permits. The trail is well marked with 14 checkpoints and various arrows to guide you. A couple downed trees have you clamboring a bit, but otherwise, the trail is easily managed with gentle sloping inclines and descents. What is particularly interesting is the diverse flora throughout the trail- imported Cooke Island Pines, arid desert-like scrub, rain forest-like intoxicating yellow ginger and then wispy featherlike pines, the likes of which I have never seen. The point at marker 14 is fairly nondescript and not near the Lanai island summit, but it does offer decent views, which were a bit obscured by heavy clouds, and a view of the dramatic Maunalei ravine where water was once pumped for Lanai City.
