    Way worth it!!
At the south end of Lana'i and after a bumpy Jeep road, this place dates back to the late 1700s and King Kamehameha I. Great ruin site as well as petroglyphs and lookout points. Wear sturdy shoes and drink water as it can be hot and a bit of a strenuous hike. The temple building must have been really impressive when active. Picnic table at end of road provides for a good snack/picnic location. She the Shark Fin from the overlook at the top as well as 3300 ft. sea-cliffs.

    Great mini-adventure!
February 2022: about a total of 45 min jeep drive from Lanai City. The last 3 miles (from Kaupili Rd down to the ocean) is steep and very rocky in places and takes 30 min. Pretty straightforward in a jeep (put in in 4-wheel low before starting the steep descent), just go slow. Well signed so no guesswork about which roads to take. Spectacular place, great views, very well marked trail (about 1/2 mile total) with great interpretive signs. Well preserved lava rock ruins. From the Kahelili's leap (on the trail) amazing views of the sea cliffs to the north. Shaded picnic table. You could spend an hour, or all day if you wanted to explore tidepools, walk south along the sea cliffs, etc.
